Help! My Dog Ate 3 day old fish!?
So my B/F found a dead steelhead in the river & buried it in the garden then 3 days ago my dog dug it up and has been snacking on it for the past 3 days till this morning we got rid of the fish. We figured it out last night when i complained of her fish breaht we checked the garden & spotted it, so disgusting flies everywhere! then i said no wonder she had bad breath on Wednesday. SO its not like we were feeding it to her do you think she’ll be okay?
She will be fine- ours go and hunt for fish, raccoons, or oppossums all the time, and have no ill effects. The main thing you have to worry about is bones splintering, but that shouldn’t be that much of a problem with fish.
Ours dogs also raid neighboring compost piles and have eatten week old turkey- their stomachs can handle a lot more than ours can.
